ABOUT ME

Raymond was born June 28, 1965 and grew up in Vero Beach, Florida. He was the son of migrant workers. As a motivated youth, Raymond excelled as an athlete and student, and because of a family situation, decided that law enforcement would be my life's work. He received a full four-year scholarship to attend Missouri Southern State University college and was nominated for Rookie of the Year his freshman year; his sophomore year he broke several rushing yards; he was an All-American as a junior; later he came close to turning pro in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins in 1990. In 1991, Raymond was signed by the Orlando Predators in the Arena football league. He graduated from American InterContinental University, making the Dean's List in Criminal Justice/Forensic Science. While working as a deputy with the Broward County Sheriff's Department, Raymond received numerous awards, including Deputy of the Month in April, 1997, and again in July, 1999, the Gold Cross Award (one of the highest Sheriff's Office honors) in November, 1999.

On June 15, 2000 Raymond was arrested by his former department and served 16 1/2 months on false and fabricated Drug Charges. On September 26, 2001 the jury came back with a Not Guilty Verdict within 30 minutes. Raymond was arrested two more times on trump up charges on January 6, 2004 and again on October 10, 2005 and was cleared by the court. In 2004 Raymond won a prestigious award- African American Achievers and was honored with a Lifesaving Award for coming to the aid of a detainee who was trying to kill himself. To this day his accolades continue (Raymond received another Lifesaving Award in 2013 when a young Caucasian male overdosed on heroin and he was able to perform CPR until fire rescue arrived).

Raymond is the Author of a powerful book titled I'm Still Standing that's being sold on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Your public Libraries, Walmart online, and Kindle fire. Amazon has announced that this book earned the Best Book of the year thus far in every category fiction, non- fiction, mysteries, and children books. Raymond was a dedicated and decorated sheriff & deputy, false accusations derailed him and his career and his family, but what happened next formed the foundation for his book, "I'M STILL STANDING". Raymond was denied all-important tenet upon which America is based: JUSTICE. He received no apology, no compensation and no restoration from a department committed to the culture now permeating our country.

Raymond family and church sustained him through dark times that followed his false incarceration. One of his staunchest supporters, his friend Coreen Anderson, penned a letter in 2013 that reveals his true character, the strength of his faith and ability to forgive. In her letter, Ms. Anderson expresses confidence that he will succeed in whatever his future endeavors may be and that he will move into the blessings as he relinquishes the pains of the past. Serpico lives in the 21st Century, this time in the person of Raymond Hicks. In closing, God bless Raymond to get a job with the Department of Homeland Security Immigration Custom Enforcement through Doyon Akal JV at Krome processing center located in Miami. Raymond was promoted to a Lieutenant and Acting Captain 1 year later.
